Agasthyakoodam Mountain in Kerela is part of the lofty Sahyadri range of mountains. It rises to a height of 1890 meters above sea level which makes it the second highest peak in Kerala.

So you will get to see a large number of rare trees. Other than exotic colorful orchids, a large number of herbs with a great deal of medicinal value can be found here. The herbs number more than two thousand and are used for Ayurveda.
You can also trek to reach the top of Agasthyakoodam or Agasthya Malai as it is popularly known. However Trekking is permitted only in the months of December, January, February and April. A distance of 28 km needs to be covered to reach the top and that takes about 2 days. Keep in mind the fact that passes have to be obtained from the Wild Life Warden, Forest Department, PTP Nagar, Tiruvananthapuram for trekking.
