Valluvar Kottam is a popular destination in Chennai. Valluvar Kottam is located towards the corner of Kodambakkam High Road and Village Road of Chennai. Valluvar Kottam was built as a memorial to Thiruvalluvar, the author of ‘Thirukkural’.
Valluvar Kottam consists of an auditorium and a memorial. The auditorium can accommodate 4000 people at a time. The auditorium is surrounded by granite pillars on which all the verses from Thirukkural have been carved. It required about 3000 stone blocks to construct Valluvar Kottam.
here is a chariot shaped structure in the auditorium which is about 100 feet high. This structure has a statue of Thiruvalluvar towards the top. The base of this chariot displays 133 chapters of Thirukkural.

Valluvar Kottam is an auditorium, with a capacity to hold 4,000 people, built in remembrance of the poet-saint Tiruvalluvar, located in Chennai. Verses of the poet Tiruvalluvar are emblazoned on the pillars around the auditorium and a major draw here is the 101-feet high temple chariot structure, which attracts many tourists. The shape and structure of the building is similar to a temple chariot. Thoughtful lines from the epic Thirukkural have been written in bas-relief in the front lobby corridors of the chariot. This auditorium and the Chariot structure are the living symbols of cultural, societal and artistic heritage of Tamilnadu.

- The historical monument dedicated to Thiruvalluvar is designed in the exact shape of a chariot which resembles the Temple chariot in Thiruvarur.
- The Chariot contains a massive stone statue of the respected Tamil poet saint. The statue is 33 meters in height. The base of the chariot like monument contained the 133 chapters of the grand epic Thirukkural in bas relief.
- An interesting feature of the Valluvar Kottam is that, it stands unsupported by any pillars. The 1330 verses in the epic named Thirukkural written by the poet are depicted on the granite pillars surrounding the massive auditorium.
- Around 3000 blocks of stone went in the construction of the Valluvar Kottam in Chennai.
