St. Peters & St. Pauls Orthodox chapel is located in Koyambedu, a vibrant and dynamic market place in Chennai. This is one of the oldest and prominent churches in Chennai came into being in 1858. Located at the center of Purasawalkam, Vepery and Choolai areas, the church is located in a place that is renowned for the Karnataka War fought by Tipu Sultan against the British. It is a CSI (Church of South India) church, which holds regular worship services.

  • Located at Koyambedu and easily accessible from all the fast developing    residential areas of Chennai city, this church is an architectural marvel designed    by Architect Varghese Oommen.
  • The first service was conducted  in Dec’91 starting as a chapel under the    St. Thomas Cathedral,     Broadway, in the name of St. Peters & St. Pauls    Chapel with H.G. Zachariah Mar Dionysius as     the  Diocesan Bishop. This     church became an independent parish on 2nd Sep’2006 as per the Kalpana  of    H.G. Yakub Mar Ireanios the then Diocesan Thirumeni.
  • The growth of this independent church is phenomenal with the present    membership being     421  families under the stewardship of the new Diocesan    Thirumeni H.G.Dr.Yuhanon Mar     Dioscoros.  Rev. Fr. Gigi Mathew is the first    Vicar and under his spiritual leadership St. Peter’s     & St. Paul’s  Church is a    Cynosure of all eyes. Every one who visits this church is all praise for     the    excellent  upkeep and its maintenance.
  • Now, to cap all the achievements, the church has constructed a massive    Cross Tower and     Kodimaram with the financial support of all the church    members.
