About Ramakrishna Ashram :
Ramakrishna Ashram, which is a famous sightseeing attraction among travellers, was founded by Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Swami Vivekananda and Sharada Mata. This ashram is visited by devotees for meditation.
The Ramakrishna Mission authorities at Belur Math were persuaded by the Govt of India to open a School in Along, West Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh in 1965. Smt. Indira Gandhi, the then Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting wrote a letter to Srimat Swami Ranganathanandaji Maharaj, the then Trustee of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

History :
The Ashram was founded by Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda and Sharada Mata.
The Ramakrishna Mission had established a school in Along in 1965 which was initiated by the Late Prime Minister of India, Smt. Indira Gandhi. She was the initiative factor to contact Swami Abhayananda of Ramakrishna Mission to set up a school in North East of India.
The school began functioning from 1966 for the tribal students. It was initially a small building with a thatched roof and only 35 students. The school provided good education and nutritious food to the children. Over a period of time, the school developed into a big campus with a good strength of 2500 students. The school today also offers courses in Science, Commerce and Humanity science.
